Missing child, terrified parents, sleepless nights, scorned actions…

How long do they have to wait?

If you are not a parent, this issue might not touch your heart; only a parent would understand the gravity of this matter. Imagine your kid leaving home to play or to visit a friend; and never coming back. Imagine, you wait for your child to arrive home after school, but you never see him/her. This is the plight of many unfortunate parents who have lost their children and are dying to see them back.
As per a report in one of the leading Gujarati dailies, more than 10,790 children have gone missing in Gujarat in the last four years. Out of them more than 3,100 children are yet to be traced. Compared to other crime figures in Gujarat this might not look so alarming but understand the agony the parents. Being a proud father of two wonderful kids I can feel their pain. Till date the day I don’t meet or talk to both of them I get restless. But I guess the head of this state has not understood this feeling.
Safety and security of each and every citizen on Gujarat is the fundamental duty of its government. What can be the reason in security lapses here? I can guarantee you about one of the main ones: most of the security personnel were busy performing duties for our Chief Minister in providing security during innumerous festivals organized by him and attracting crowd (by hook or by crook). It is already well known that we do not have enough police and security personnel in ratio with our population. Using state resources for the benefit of its people is the only primary duty of an able government.
Children in Gujarat have been found missing from schools, outside their homes, on the road, in religious processions and so on. Some of the children found have narrated the stories of being forced to beg, work as domestic help, sodomy, forced into prostitution rings etc. Parents of these children have been protesting against the lazy administration of Gujarat, without being heard. The irony her e is that missing children report is not seen as a priority unless someone files it as kidnapping.
In any civilized society if a person dies, the society mourns. The parents of these children have almost gone dead from the pain of their losses. The society is concerned but there has not been any substantial action from the administrators of this state. It has always been a pet dialogue of Mr. Narendra Modi that, “You brother is sitting in Gandhinagar…”. I hope he realizes his duties as an ‘uncle’ and may God give him strength to answer the question, “What happened to our children?”. We at Congress have been following this issue closely. Although not in power, we are determined to fight for the right cause.

A few more things to know about Rajiv Gandhi - Blog by Arjun Modhwadia

21st May should not be observed as the death anniversary of the Indian National Congress leader and former Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi; it should be celebrated for a remarkable and decorated life of a charismatic visionary,
Rajiv Gandhi. I have decided to leave these two decades of mourning behind, and look at the future with the ideologies of a great soul that lived among us a few years back. He too had a dream; “… a dream of an India, strong, independent, self reliant and in the forefront of the front ranks of the nations of the world in the service of mankind…”
The contribution of Shri Rajiv Gandhi as a leader of the nation and as a dynamic politician for his party is a never ending list. He was a man who stood against all odds and made his presence notable. Starting-off as a commercial pilot, he had a lucrative career with ample money and leisure time. He could have ended his career with the same chutzpah; but that was not what his destiny wanted. He held the reigns of Indian National Congress after his mother, Smt. Indira Gandhi’s assassination, and was nominated to become the youngest Prime Minister in the history of Independent India. He also led his party to an unmatchable victory in the following general elections winning 411 out of 542 seats.
